Christmas

Christmas was wonderful this year. Everyone decided based on the economy that we should scale down Christmas. We tried to emphasize family instead of the commericalism of it all. We basically had Christmas the 22nd. We did not do all our traditional things like read the story of Jesus and do a nativity play (although I originally thought JD would be in the running for Baby Jesus, but it would have had to go to Drew since he is smaller in size.) It was nice to not have to be a sheep, or angel or hairy Wise Man. It will be great when the babies are older and act it out for us. Christmas was great for us. We played bingo at my grandma's on Christmas day and we took home 5 prizes. So I know we are very blessed.

Online Christmas Card!

Dear Family and Friends,
Merry Christmas! This year has been very busy for us. Jeremiah finally earned his private pilot license and has about a year and a half of schooling to look forward to. He is working for the Electrical Union with Fisk Electric at the City Center project. It will be completed November 2009. Amazingly enough (knock on wood) he has gone over a year without getting into an auto accident, he must have passed his luck to his brother Tom.

Betsie graduated in May from UNLV and started selling gourmet food called Tastefully Simple. (www.tastefullysimple.com/web/bjones2). Betsie’s grandpa past away this summer before the baby was born. She is currently on a leave of absence from Bank of America in order to take care of our new son Jeremiah Daniel Jones II. She loves being a mother now.

JD is a growing little monster. He is learning about the world around him and loves it. He loves his hands right now but gets frustrated when they don’t do what he wants. He is a really good natured boy, well at least as long as there is food in his belly. He is now eating rice cereal (and oatmeal) and can’t get enough of it. He was born just under 9 lbs. and now is 18 lbs. 7 oz. and 25.5 inches long. We love to play with him and tickle him to make him squeal and giggle.

Love,
Betsie, Jeremy and JD

UNLV game

This was JD's first UNLV basketball game. They beat Santa Clara. Jeremy tried to feed JD popcorn. Luckily he couldn't get it.

Let it Snow!!! In Vegas?

We had a snowy day yesterday. It actually stuck on the ground too! I felt like I was back living in Reno! It was fun and unusual!

When it had just began to snow.

It stuck!

Santa Train

Saturday most of my family went to Boulder City to ride the Santa Train. JD was more interested in the sparkly ornament snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. At least he wasn't scared of Santa.

Cousins!

Here are all the Kanet grandchildren. Since Shannah and her girls were in town for Thanksgiving my mom wanted to get a picture. It sure was fun trying to negotiate with 3 babies. Dylan tried hard to help Ellie but mostly choked her into submission. I like that JD has his own "throne" since he was the only one who cannot sit on his own.

JD weighs 18 lbs and 7 oz and is 25 1/2 inches long. He outweighs two of his older cousins (Trevin, 11 months, and Drew, 6 months).

Captain Jeremy

Well it's official, Jeremy now has his private pilot's license. He has worked very hard over the last year and a half trying to finish his license, but he finally did it. He only has a couple more years and many more flights until he can fly commercially. I love you Jeremy and am very proud of you.

Great Grandpa JD

Halloween weekend we went to San Diego to visit Jeremy's granfather JD Buchanan and Dora. JD loved to have Dora talk to him in spanish. It was fun to see four generations together.

A couple of weeks ago Jeremy, myself, JD and Sarah went to the Renaissance Fair at Sunset Park. I took pictures of maybe two things there and the rest were of JD. So here are some of my little monkey.

2 Month Checkup

Everyday I think that JD looks more and more like his father. JD also just found his hands and fingers. He sucks on his fist and looks at his fingers. He loves to coo and smile. He will stick out his tongue and watch you waiting for you to do the same thing. I love it! He doesn't really like tummy time but he has figured out the he can lay his head to the side so that he doesn't have to have his head held up the whole time.

Yesterday JD had his 2 month well baby check up! He now weighs 14 lbs. 13oz. and is 24 and a hlaf inches long. His cousin Drewm who is 2 months older, went to the drs. about 2 weeks ago and was 15 lbs. 1oz and 24 and a half inches. So JD is trying to pass his cousin in size. He definitely loves his momma's milk!!!

Jeremy had to take this picture since this Saturday he does his final flight stage check. If he passes this one (which he will no doubt) then all he will need is to pass a test and flight with an FAA examiner and he will finally have his Private Pilot License. Whoo hoo!!! We are very proud of JD's daddy.

Motherhood

I love being a mother. I used to love being an aunt because I could always give the crying baby back to it's mom. I thought that being a mom in that instant would not be fun since, when around family, everyone holds the baby until the baby is screaming. But I find now that I LOVE it when someone else is holding my baby and the baby gets fussy, because I am the mother and JD feels comfort from me and calms down when I have him. It is amazing the connection that mothers have with their babies. Now I know why I am so close with my mom. Jeremy's favorite scripture that he has on his missionary plaque is Alma 56:47-48

"47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.

48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it."

I just hope that I can teach JD all that he needs to know amd all that my parents taught me.

2 weeks Pictures

I figured out how to scan pictures all by myself. JD can lift his head when on his tummy. He now smiles and it is so cute. I love playing with him and seeing his big smile. He also is starting to get some really cute rolls!!! I am definitely not starving him!

6 weeks old

I love it when he smiles!!!! So "tute".

He is Captain Adorable!!!

I misplaced my camera for a week, so I am trying to take lots of pictures to make up for it. If Jeremy will help me, I want to scan in his two week old pictures. JD is a great nurser now and I am glad we stuck it through to make it work. He's my little milk monkey! Although sometimes he is a milk monster!!!
